Private roads & access routes

Plan a private access route around the vehicles using it and the properties it serves. We review existing construction, drainage, boundaries and access arrangements before defining the surfacing package.

Structure First. Surface Second.

Use-led construction

Review the vehicles and movements the route needs to accommodate.

Defined responsibility

Identify private boundaries and work by others before pricing.

Access considered

Discuss resident and delivery requirements before a programme is agreed.

Define the package

A clear brief. An agreed scope.

Existing route

Record surface deterioration, retained construction and known drainage issues. Resurfacing suitability is assessed, not assumed.

Proposed construction

Agree the surface package against the recorded use and any supplied design. Thicknesses and materials are project-specific proposal details.

Scope boundaries

Identify connections to adopted roads and required permissions. Connections to adopted roads require the relevant permissions and agreed responsibilities.

Before a proposal

The site requirements shape the package.

Structure First. Surface Second. Review loading, retained construction, water routes and interfaces with work by others before agreeing the surface. Dan will clarify what is included, who is responsible and which decisions remain outstanding.

  • Ownership, private-road boundaries and permissions
  • Vehicle weights, turning movements and passing areas
  • Existing construction and required preparation
  • Falls, drainage interfaces and thresholds
  • Resident access, deliveries and required dates

Project questions.

Can you quote from an area measurement?

An area helps start the conversation, but construction, edges, drainage and access affect the scope. A measurement alone does not establish a final quotation.

What should we send with an enquiry?

Send the site location, intended use, approximate area, drawings or specification, and required dates. Identify work by others and any tender deadline so the review starts with a clear brief.

Is a date confirmed when we enquire?

No. Scope, access arrangements and the proposed programme need review before dates are agreed. Tell Dan about fixed deadlines at the outset.

A quotation against a defined scope.

Send the drawings, specification and programme available. We review preparation, surfacing, drainage interfaces, access and work by others, then identify the inclusions, exclusions and outstanding clarifications.

Ask Dan about relevant project experience and the information available for your proposed package.

Discuss your site with Dan.
