Getting ready for your site assessment

A few details about your property and ideas help make the most of your visit. Here is what to prepare so we can discuss the options and develop a proposal around your priorities.

Have these to hand

  • Photographs and approximate dimensions of each area you want to change.
  • What you want the space to do: parking, seating, dining, access or connecting the garden.
  • Any standing water, awkward thresholds, slopes or access restrictions.
  • Gates, steps, walls, inspection covers and features to retain.
  • Available plans, services information and records of previous work.
  • Materials you like, preferred timing and any budget you want to discuss.
  • Mobility needs or vehicle requirements that affect the layout.

What happens on the visit

We discuss your priorities, take relevant measurements and review visible surfaces, levels, drainage and access. Available samples help explore materials. We also identify any further investigation or design needed before the scope can be completed.

What you get afterwards

A written proposal setting out the construction route, the quantities, what is included, what is priced separately and what is excluded, with the subtotal, VAT and total shown. We don't hand over a fixed price on the doorstep, because the scope and the price are worked out after the visit.

Questions worth asking us

  • Which construction are you proposing for each area, and why?
  • How deep will the excavation and sub-base be?
  • Where does the water go?
  • Who supervises the work, and who actually does it?
  • What would make this price change?
